Hello! I am delighted to announce that I have updated my shop with lots of pots! There are mugs and bowls with cats, dogs, turtles, and more.
Turtle World is a pottery line inspired by my cat named Turtle and my turtle named Windy. I’ve been plotting this pottery line for what seems like years and there’s something a little anticlimactic about this release. Making the pots happens so quickly: the whole process of planning/throwing/trimming/glazing/firing a batch of pots is sometimes done in 3 weeks. Even through a whirlwind of many mishaps the process swirls by in a rush of fulfillment! But after the pots come out of the kiln there comes a drag of documenting, editing, and uploading; I find that digital mishaps are not nearly as satisfying to solve as physical ones. Still, all of this digital organization means I’ve had time to reflect on what I’ve made and I’m so happy to finally share this project with you. :-)
For this batch of pots I was focused primarily on surface. I’ve been playing with mason-stain color mixing and finding a balance between fluidity and clarity in the lines. I’m eager to continue that exploration and introduce new colors into my glaze palette!
